Dupree named CAA Rookie of the Year

BUIES CREEK - Mekhi Dupree was tabbed CAA Men's Rookie of the Year for the outdoor Track & Field Season.

Dupree, a redshirt-freshman, burst onto the scene this year to win gold in the men's 200m at the CAA Championships, and bronze in the 110m hurdles.

His season-best of 20.43 (VertKlasse Meeting) in the men's 200m put him 16th in NCAA East Qualifying to punch his ticket to NCAA regionals. At NCAA's in Jacksonville, Fla., Mekhi cruised through the first round of qualifying to reach the national quarterfinals, finishing 18th in the east.

His recognition marks back-to-back years the Camels have earned a CAA Rookie of the Year award, with Aaliyah Brown-Muhammad doing so for the women's side last season. He's the first male to win the award for Campbell in the CAA, and first to win it in any league since Khai McLin in the Big South in 2016.
