BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- The Fighting Camels hit the road this week for a midweek contest at No. 7 Duke on Wednesday, April 4. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Admission for Wednesday's game is free of charge. The matchup will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra, available online via WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app. Live stats will also be provided at GoDuke.com.
Campbell (15-13, 8-1 Big South) is coming off its third-straight Big South series win, taking two-of-three in a road series at UNC Asheville this past weekend. The Camels won the series opener 10-1 before defeating the Bulldogs 9-5 in the series finale. With an 8-1 conference record, CU currently holds sole possession of first place in the Big South standings.
Senior infielder
Christian Jones smacked three homers over four games last week, moving his total to nine for the season to lead the conference. The Jacksonville, Fla. native also boasts a conference-high 33 RBI and .660 slugging percentage, while ranking second in the Big South with 68 total bases.
Matthew Barefoot tops the league in stolen bases (18) and HBP (13), ranking fourth and third in all of NCAA Division I in those categories, respectively. The redshirt-sophomore outfielder owns the second-highest on-base percentage in the Big South at .492.
Duke (24-5, 9-3 ACC) sits in the top 15 in four national polls: Baseball America (No. 10), Collegiate Baseball (No. 7), D1Baseball (No. 14) and Perfect Game (No. 11). The Blue Devils went 4-0 this past week, grabbing an 8-0 victory over Presbyterian in the midweek before sweeping Notre Dame in a home ACC series at the DBAP.
The Camels and Blue Devils squared off earlier this season in Buies Creek, as Duke claimed a 4-0 win on Tuesday, March 20. All four runs scored were unearned as they followed errors by the Campbell defense.
Following the contest, Campbell will return home to face Big South rival Liberty in a three-game set. The series is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, April 6-8 at Jim Perry Stadium.
