BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Alexandra Nicoara and
Lea Cutura both posted 3-0 records on the day to finish 5-1 on the weekend at the Battle at the Creek Invite.
Nicoara and Cutura paired in doubles action to go 2-0 on the day. The duo opened with a 6-3 win over Davidson's Alyssa Hahn and Gabby Centenary at No. 3. The pair later capped off doubles play with another 6-3 victory at No. 3 over Western Carolina's Julia Pezzuco and Lauren McCall.
Nicoara closed out her perfect day with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 over ECU's Annija Veinsteina at No. 5. Her 5-1 record for the tournament came after 2-1 ledger on the opening day.
Cutura's unblemished outing on the final day of the tournament came after a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 8 over ECU's Sofia Anthony. Cutura's one loss on the weekend came on the opening day that featured a 2-1 mark.
Ana Castillo put together a 3-3 overall mark over the two-day event. On Saturday, the sophomore picked up a singles win at No. 2 over ECU's Nastja Rettich. On the opening day of the tournament, the 2018 Big South Freshman of the Year, produced a 2-1 mark as a part of five different Camels who opened with a winning ledger.
Lou Regen closed out the Camels success on the day with a 2-1 mark. Regen recorded one win in singles and another in doubles action alongside partner
Isabel Boada. The duo joined to record a 7-6 (4) tie-breaker win at No. 1 over Western's Jordan Strickland and Savannah Toranto. Regen was able to notch a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win in singles action over Alisa Dierksen of ECU as well.
Campbell continues its fall slate next weekend at the UNC Greensboro Invite October 6-7. The Camels then take a weekend off before competing in the ITA Carolina Regional in Chapel Hill October 18-21.
