Camels Drop First Matches of Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RICHMOND, VA- Campbell loses first two matches of the season to Drexel 4-0 and to VCU 7-0 in Richmond, VA.

Campbell vs Drexel

Campbell dropped doubles to the Dragons to start the afternoon. Ana Castillo and Isabel Boada opened doubles play to beat Drexel's Anisiya Simpson and Ghita Benhadi with a 6-1 decision. Following, the CU pair Lou Regen and Lea Cutura fell to DU's pair Salma Ziouti and Tara Veluvolu 6-2. Alex Nicoara and Inma Ramon also lost to Drexel's Katarina Majorova and Marta Martinez with a 6-4 decision.

The Camels then dropped their singles matches to Drexel. Castillo lost to Salma Ziouti with a mark of 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 before teammate Alex Nicoara fell to DU's Ghita Benhadi 6-3, 6-1. Boada also dropped a singles point to Tara Veluvolu 6-3, 6-0.

Campbell vs VCU

Campbell dropped doubles to VCU later Saturday. CU pair Castillo and Boada lost to VCU's Anna Rasmussen and Melissa Ifidzhen with a 6-1 decision. Later, Regen and Ramon fell to Sofia Sualehe and Noumea Witmus 6-0.

Castillo fell to Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado with a 6-1, 6-2 decision before Campbell's Regen dropped singles to Anna Rasmussen 6-0, 6-1. Alex Nicoara also dropped singles to VCU's Marina Alcaide Bakkari 6-0,6-0. Ramon lost singles to VCU player Kanako Yano with a 6-0, 6-0 decision. Following, CU's Boada fell to Noumea Witmus 6-1, 6-7, 10-4. Lea Cutura also dropped singles to VCU's Sofia Sualehe 6-2, 7-6(4).

Next Match
The Camels are back in action on Saturday January 26^th against Coastal Carolina in Conway, SC. First serve is set for 1:00 pm.
