HIGH POINT, N.C. – Led by Lauren Carter's 12 fourth-quarter points, the Camels scored 31 in the final period, but were unable to comeback and surpass High Point on Tuesday night inside the Millis Center, suffering a 65-60 defeat.
Playing in her hometown in front of plenty of friends and family, Carter tied a career-high by scoring 16 on 5-of-11 shooting and a 4-for-4 effort at the free-throw line. She also pulled down eight rebounds and totaled two assists with two blocks.
Shy Tuelle also reached double-figures for the Camels, scoring 15, which included two three-pointers. Taya Bolden led the Camels at the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds, her eighth double-digit rebound game this season; she also added eight points.
Hayley Barber added nine points and Lauren McNamara-Clement scored five.
High Point entered the fourth quarter with a 14-point lead (43-29) but the Camels made five of their first seven shots in the final period to trim the lead to 10, 53-43, with 4:47 remaining.
Campbell came to within four points twice in the final 25 seconds but High Point made 5-of-7 at the free-throw line to go away with the 65-60 win.
The Camels fell to 3-4 with the loss and 11-7 overall, while High Point moved to 4-2 in Big South play and 11-6 overall.
