BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell women's hoops faces its first Big South road test on Thursday at Charleston Southern with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
Top Camels
Taya Bolden has led the Camels in rebounding in 10 games, including their previous four, pulling down 34 boards (8.5 rpg) over that stretch.
Lauren Carter and Bolden lead CU in scoring, averaging 8.8 and 8.5 points per contest. Hayley Barber and Launa Serranho have paced the Campbell offense, dishing out 34 assists (2.6 apg) and 33 assists (2.5 apg), respectively.
Camels Split First Two Conference Games
Campbell (9-4, 1-1) won its Big South opener over Presbyterian last weekend, 51-46, but fell to Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night, 52-38. Against the Bulldogs, Bolden paired 10 points and 10 rebounds for her seventh career double-double.
Defensive Camels
Campbell leads the Big South and is 17th nationally in scoring defense, holding opponents to just 54.9 ppg. The Camels have also totaled 59 blocks (4.5 bpg), which is second in the conference.
Racking Up Three's
With 91 three's so far this season, Campbell is second in the Big South, averaging 7.0 three's per game.
Marginal Rebounding
Campbell leads the Big South and ranks 46th nationally with a +6.7 rebounding margin (40.8 to 34.2). The Camels are one of four Big South teams that own a positive rebounding margin. The Camels are joined in the positive by: High Point (+8.2), Gardner-Webb (+5.8) and Radford (+2.6).
Charleston Southern ranks seventh in the league with a -2.8 rebounding margin (41.1 to 41.3)
Charleston Southern Notes
Led by ninth-year head coach Fred Applin, three Buccaneers average double-figures – Ke'Asia Jackson (12.3), Breannah Bretches and Rachel Burns (10.4). CSU is looking for its first conference win, dropping its first two contests to Hampton and Winthrop.
Series Notes
Campbell and Charleston Southern meet for the 38th time on Thursday. From 1980-2012, Campbell won the first 25 meetings; however, since March 9, 2012, when CSU picked up its first win over the Camels, the series is tied at 6-6.
