BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Rookie outside hitter Lailah Green recorded a career-high 22 kills to lead the Campbell University Fighting Camels to a 3-2 Big South Conference victory over USC Upstate on Friday night inside Gore Arena.

Across 44 attacks, Green committed just seven errors for a .341 hitting percentage. Allena Heath added 13 kills while Melody Paige finished with 10 kills. Heath paired her kills total with 12 digs, good for her first double-double of her senior season.

Setters Madee Miner and Emily Mitter nearly split the assist distribution for the Fighting Camels, dishing out 27 assists and 26 assists, respectively.

Elyse Gross again led the CU defense, recording 20 digs.

After hitting -.100 in the first set, Campbell bounced back to hit .333, .250 and .394 over sets two through four, winning sets two and three before losing the fourth set. In the second set, Campbell held USC Upstate to a .133 hitting percentage. Led by Paige's four kills in the fifth set, the Camels outhit the Spartans .217 to .083 to secure the five-set victory.

Campbell has a quick turnaround with a Saturday afternoon match against UNC Asheville. First serve between the Figthing Camels and Bulldogs is slated for 2 p.m.
