Camels sweep Hampton behind Heath's 12 kills

BUIES CREEK, N.C. Campbell University volleyball improved to 6-2 in Big South Conference play with a three-set sweep of Hampton on Saturday afternoon inside Gore Arena.

The win moved Campbell to 12-9 overall. Additionally, the victory was Campbell's ninth sweep of the year and the third against Big South foes.

Allena Heath was the lone student-athlete to amass double-digit kills in the match as she totaled 12 kills. Sarah Colla added seven kills while Lailah Green, Kate Menz and Melody Paige each recorded five kills.

Emily Mitter logged her sixth double-double of the season, pairing a team-high 14 digs with 10 assists. Madee Miner dished out 16 assists, and Elyse Gross had 13 digs.

The Fighting Camels put down 10 service aces, led by four from Heath and three from Miner. Heath's four aces moved her season total to 34 (0.47 per set), which leads the Big South; she has recorded four aces in four matches this season, including three times over the last six matches.

Hampton was led offensively by Gabby Calloway, who added nine kills. Lena Reed Petracek dished out a match-high 24 assists.

Campbell will continue its five-match homestand by facing both Gardner-Webb and Winthrop for the first time this season. The Fighting Camels and Runnin' Bulldogs will play on Friday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m., before Campbell faces Winthrop the following day at 2 p.m.
