BUIES CREEK, N.C. — For the second time in as many weeks, freshman guard Shy Tuelle has been named the Big South's Freshman of the Week.
Tuelle led the Camels in scoring in both games last week, scoring 13 at Hampton on Tuesday before tallying a career-high 18 points in CU's 69-63 win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday. At GWU, she went a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line, while knocking down two three-point field goals. At Hampton, she also pulled down four rebounds.
The Hampton, Tenn., native averages 11.3 points per conference game, which ranks fourth among all Big South freshmen and 23rd overall. Her 36.0 percent three-point field goal percentage in conference play leads all Big South freshmen and ranks sixth overall.
With Saturday's win over Gardner-Webb, Tuelle and the Camels improved to 7-6 in league play and now sit in tie with GWU for fifth place in the Big South standings.
