BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Evan Edwards and Terrell Tatum drove in three runs apiece to lead the 10th-ranked NC State Wolfpack to a 10-1 win over the Campbell Fighting Camels on Wednesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.
The Wolfpack totaled 10 hits, their fifth game with double-digit hits, while the Camels were held to their lowest hit total of the season, three. Matthew Barefoot (1-for-5, R), AJ Hrica (1-for-3, BB) and Luis Gimenez (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) each collected a base hit for Campbell.
Reid Johnston (2-0) collected the win, tossing three scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts. Campbell starter Seth Johnson (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs across 5.0 innings. Johnson struck out four, while allowing just one walk.
NC State scored its first four runs by way of two-out home runs, one each in the second and third innings. Terrell Tatum launched a three-run home run in the second before Evan Edwards' solo shot in the third, putting the Wolfpack ahead, 4-0.
The Camels scored their lone run in the bottom of the third. With two away, Barefoot singled into center field for CU's first hit of the day. He later stole second before Hrica drew a five-pitch walk. Gimenez doubled down the right field line, scoring Barefoot from second and making the score 4-1 after three complete.
The Wolfpack scored the final six runs of the game, capped off by a pair of RBI-singles in the ninth.
Up next, the Camels will host the Fairfield Stags for a weekend series, which is set for Friday through Sunday, Mar. 1-3 at Jim Perry Stadium.
