In the program's seventh season, the Camels are opening the season at home for the third time. Campbell returns 17 letterwinners from its 2018 squad, while welcoming 11 newcomers to the mix. CU finished last season 9-10 overall and 4-3 in Big South outings.
Campbell has won at least nine games in each of the last three seasons, picking up that ninth win of 2018 in record fashion, topping Radford 23-11 in the Big South's quarterfinal round. In addition to a single-game record for team goals, the Camels posted Big South single-game tournament records for goals, points (36) and draw controls (25) against the Highlanders.

Amanda Chasin and
Melissa Placek are tabbed preseason all-conference.
Placek, a three-time All-Big South performer, earning First Team All-Big South honors for the second straight season in 2018, posted 65 goals as a junior last season, ranking second in the Big South and the second-most by a Camel in school history. Also named to the Big South all-tournament team and the conference's Presidential Honor Roll, Placek set a Campbell single-season record with 114 draw controls. The Baltimore, Md. native notched 13 hat tricks, scoring in all 19 CU outings of the 2018 season, including a season-best seven goals in Campbell's 23-11 win over Radford in the Big South quarterfinal.
Carey was also a First Team All-Big South selection in 2018, registering 97 draw controls, third most by a Camel in a single season, with 12 points on 10 goals and two assists. Carey added 24 ground balls and eight caused turnovers, and was named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll. An Abingdon, Md. native, Carey Posted a career-high 10 draw controls against both No. 19 High Point and Radford, and gathered a season-high three points on two goals and an assist at Cincinnati, adding six draw controls, five ground balls and a caused turnover.
Chasin was named honorable mention All-Big South as a junior in 2018, ranking second on the team with 37 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers. Also a Big South Presidential Honor Roll member, Chasin registered at least one ground ball in 16 games, and caused at least one turnover in 10 games, forcing a miscue in seven of her final eight games of the year. From Barnsville, Md., Chasin posted multiple ground balls six times, notching a season-high six three times.
Placek, Carey and Chasin were three of six Camels that received All-Big South honors in 2018.
Elon will be facing the Camels for just the third time, making its first trip to Buies Creek since 2014. The Phoenix were ranked No. 21 in the country in the 2018 preseason, but went 4-11 on the year, facing 10 other top-25 opponents over the course of the season.
Junior Melissa Birdsell is Elon's leading returning points scorer, posting 17 tallies on 16 goals and one assist in 2018. The midfielder is the only returner of Elon's top-five scorers from last season. 2018 CAA All-Rookie Team member Quinn Daly, who posted eight goals, 13 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers, also returns, earning a 2019 honorable mention preseason All-CAA nod.
The Camels will remain at home for their next outing, hosting Richmond on February 16 before heading to Coastal Carolina on February 20 for the team's road debut.
