BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell did not lose a set Saturday in a 7-0 victory over NC Central in the Camels' men's tennis home opener at the Nisbet Tennis Center.
The defending Big South champion Camels (2-3) claimed the doubles point, and all six singles matches.
Dustin Werner and
Raphael Calzi earned a 6-1 decision at the top doubles position, while
Bastien Huon and
Ondrej Labik claimed a 6-2 triumph at number two.
Gerard Sola and
Louis Monterosso led 5-3 at the third spot, but the match was halted after Campbell secured the point.
Sola and Labik dropped only one game apiece at the fourth and fifth singles positions. Werner improved to 3-2 at the number one singles post, while Huon won in straight sets at the second position to move to 3-1 in singles play this spring.
Calzi and
Fernando Clemente also earned singles victories for the preseason Big South favorite Camels.
Campbell continues its six-match home stretch Friday (Feb. 15) vs. Coastal Carolina (2:00 p.m.).
