BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell opens the Big South Women's Basketball Championship with a first round matchup against Longwood. The sixth-seeded Camels will host the No. 11 seed Lancers at 7 p.m. inside Gore Arena on Tuesday, March 12.
The Camels enter Tuesday's tilt at 18-11 on the season and 10-8 in Big South games, while the Lancers are 3-26 overall and 2-16 in conference play.

Big South Championship
The winning team between the Camels and Lancers will advance to face the tournament's No. 3 seed, Hampton at High Point, N.C., hosted at HPU, the No. 2 seed, one of the two pod hosts for the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Radford is No. 1 in the tourney and also a pod host. The Big South Championship game will be Sunday, March 17, hosted at the highest remaining seed.

Last time out
Trailing by as many as 15 in the third quarter, High Point rallied with a 15-0 run to start the fourth period and held off Campbell 70-69 in the regular season finale for both teams Saturday at Gore Arena.
The Camels led 36-33 at the halftime break, and overpowered the Panthers with a 22-12 third quarter, extending their lead to 58-43 with 1:13 to go in the frame on a pair of free throws from
Luana Serranho.
Trailing 58-45 heading into the fourth, HPU scored the first 15 points of the final stanza, taking a 60-58 lead at the 5:00 mark, its first lead since the second quarter (2:58). Campbell pulled within one at 70-69 on two
Shy Tuelle free throws after a Panther intentional foul with 0.9 seconds remaining, but could not get off a final shot attempt.
HPU outscored Campbell 25-11 in the fourth frame, hitting 8-of-16 shots from the floor and 8-of-12 free throws, and owning a 16-5 edge on the boards. Campbell, meanwhile, shot 1-for-12 in the quarter, but connected on 9-of-10 tries from the charity stripe.
Hayley Barber collected 18 points and four assists for CU, with
Lauren Carter and
Caroline Bowns notching 11 points each. Carter added eight rebounds and two blocks, and
Taya Bolden also registered eight boards.
Fisher wins 150th career game
Campbell's 76-67 win at Winthrop on March 2 marked the 150 victory for Campbell head coach
Ronny Fisher. Fisher is in his third season at Campbell, going 54-36 as head coach. Prior to his time at CU, Fisher spent 2008-16 at Presbyterian, going 97-144 overall, including winning seasons in three of his last four years with the Blue Hose.

Lauren Carter leads the Camels on the season at 9.5 points per game, adding 4.6 rebounds, while
Shy Tuelle tacks on 8.7 points per outing.
Taya Bolden owns 8.2 points with 9.0 rebounds, good for third in the Big South.
Hayley Barber adds 8.2 points and 2.6 assists per game for CU.
With at least one game remaining for the 2018-19 Camels, Campbell has secured a winning season for the sixth time in the last eight years, including the second time in three seasons under head coach
Ronny Fisher.
Defensive Camels
Overall, Campbell is second in the Big South and ranks 18th nationally in scoring defense, holding opponents to 56.2 points per game. In conference-only games, Campbell also owns a 56.3 points allowed per game clip, which stands third in the Big South.
Campbell's 126 blocks this season is second in the Big South (4.3 per game), while CU's 80 blocks (4.4 bpg) is league play currently ranks second in the conference.
The Camels are second in conference games in field-goal percentage defense, keeping Big South opponents to 35.4 percent from the field.
Campbell's overall defensive field-goal percentage of 35.7 percent ranks 17th nationally.
Notorious defense under Fisher
Under
Ronny Fisher, CU has finished in the top three in the NCAA in points allowed each of the past two years. In 2016-17, the Camels claimed the program's first-ever NCAA statistical championship by holding opponents to a Division I-low 49.6 ppg. The 2017-18 squad finished 15-15, again fielding an elite defense, allowing 51.9 ppg, which ranked third in all of NCAA Division I.

Campbell's +4.2 rebounding margin ranks third in the Big South. The Camels stand second in the league in both offensive (40.6) rebounding percentage and on the defensive end (36.3).
Scouting Longwood
The Lancers have dropped seven in a row and nine of their previous 10 heading into the Big South tourney. Longwood fell at Charleston Southern 79-67 in its regular season finale on Saturday. Dayna Rouse leads the Lancers with 14.2 points per game and 5.6 rebounds, while Stephanie Guihon adds 10.0 points per game. Mallory Odell also hauls in 6.9 rebounds.
The Camels and Lancers will be meeting for the second time this season, with Campbell taking the first matchup, 66-60, in Farmville, Va. CU is 16-5 all-time against Longwood, including an 11-2 margin as Big South members.
