The Camels are making their first conference title game appearance since 2001, the second of back to back Atlantic Sun (then called the Trans-American Athletic Conference) title game appearances, when CU fell to Georgia State 64-62.

In Campbell's Division I history, the Camels own conference tournament titles in 1989 (Big South) and 2000 (A-Sun). CU was a member of the Big South from 1986-94, rejoining in 2011, competing as a member of the A-Sun from 1994-11.

This is Campbell's sixth Big South championship game. Campbell and Radford met for the first four Big South title games from 1987-90, and again faced the Highlanders for the championship in 1992.

Going 10-8 in Big South action this season, Campbell edged No. 7 seed Longwood in the tournament's first round on Tuesday in Buies Creek, 54-49. CU then moved on to High Point, N.C., topping No. 3 seed Hampton 85-63, the program's most points in a conference tournament game since falling 93-89 in overtime to Jacksonville State in the 1999 TAAC (A-Sun) Championship Game.

Campbell led by as many as 32 in the win, shooting 53 percent from the floor (31-for-58) and 57 percent (13-for-23) from distance, landing five in double figures, including 21 from freshman guard Shy Tuelle and 20 from senior guard Caroline Bowns.

On Friday, Campbell met No. 7 seed Charleston Southern, with Bowns leading the way with 25 points in a 55-44 victory. A night after scoring a then season-high 20 in the win over Hampton, Bowns hit 7-of-7 shots, including 6-of-8 from distance, adding a 5-for-5 effort from the free throw line for 25 points. The senior added eight rebounds, two blocks, a steal and an assist.

Bowns became Campbell's all-time three point field goals leader in the win, now with 172, moving past Summer Price (2014-18) on the career list.

Hayley Barber added 10 points and seven assists for the Camels, while Tuelle posted eight points with a season-high 12 rebounds, tacking on two steals and two assists. Kyra Davis also chipped in seven points and Taya Bolden grabbed eight rebounds.

On the season, Lauren Carter leads the Camels at 9.0 points per game, adding 4.6 rebounds, while Tuelle owns 8.9 points per outing. Hayley Barber also collects 8.3 points and 2.8 assists per game for CU, while Taya Bolden averages 8.0 points with a team-high 8.8 rebounds. Averaging 22.5 over her last two games, Bowns records 6.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game for the year.

The Highlanders topped UNC Asheville 59-52 Friday in the tournament semifinals inside the Dedmon Center to clinch a championship game berth. RU also defeated Presbyterian in the Big South's quarterfinal round, 60-49.

Destinee Walker has paced the Highlanders on the season with 14.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while Lydia Rivers owns 12.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Khiana Johnson adds 10.9 points per game with 3.7 assists. Sydney Nunley also chips in 10.3 points and 9.6 boards per outing.

The Camels and Highlanders have met twice already this season, with Radford taking both matchups in narrow fashion. In the first meeting of the season, RU edged the Camels 56-52 in Gore Arena behind 19 from Johnson.

Radford took the 61-57 win at the Dedmon Center in round two of the season series despite a career-high 22 points from CU's Barber. The Highlanders closed the game on a 13-4 run on 11 points from the charity stripe and a bucket from Johnson after Campbell led 54-48 with 4:11 remaining. Campbell held Radford to just one field goal over the final 18:00 of the game.
