Bolden pushes Camels over Winthrop 76-67

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Taya Bolden's 22 points and 21 rebounds lifted Campbell to a 76-67 Big South win at Winthrop Saturday.

The Camels moved to 17-10 overall and 9-7 in Big South games, with their sixth win in the last eight outings. Winthrop drops to 10-17 on the year and 6-10 in conference play.

Bolden's 22 points and 21 boards are both career-bests for the redshirt sophomore, who poured in 17 points and 12 rebounds in the second half alone. Bolden knocked down 7-of-10 field goals in the final 20 minutes, helping Campbell's lead swell to as many as 16 in the fourth quarter.

Campbell's 76 points are the most on the road this season, and a season high against a Big South opponent.

Hayley Barber tacked on 15 points with three assists and a pair of steals, while Shy Tuelle added 12, hitting 4-of-9 shots, including 3-of-5 from three-point distance.

After shooting 29 percent in the first half and trailing 34-30 at the half, Campbell connected on 17-of-30 shots between the third and fourth periods, shooting 57 percent. CU outscored Winthrop 22-10 in the third quarter, including a 10-4 run to close the period.

Marissa Cantrell paced Winthrop with 16 points and three steals, while Jah'che Whitfield totaled 15 points, five boards and three assists. Kem Nwabudu also chipped in nine points and seven rebounds for the Eagles.

Next up, the Camels will be on the road for the final time in the 2018-19 regular season, heading to USC Upstate on Wednesday, March 6. Campbell closes out the regular season at home on March 9, hosting High Point.
