Campbell claims fifth straight win in a 7-0 shutout over South Carolina State

Box Score ORANGEBURG, SC-Campbell earned their fifth straight win today in a 7-0 sweep over South Carolina State. Today's victory places the Camels at 8-6 overall for the season so far.

CU claimed the lead early in the match taking the doubles point once again thanks to dynamite duos Ana Castillo and Lou Regen. Lucile Pons and Lea Cutura took the first win in doubles action to beat SC State doubles pair Andjela Mihajilovic and Zainab Bendahhou 6-1. Castillo and Regen clinched the doubles point again this season with a 6-3 win over Lasya Patnaik and Divya Murali.

The Camels kept the momentum going winning all six singles matchups. Regen netted the first singles win to beat Mihajilovic in singles action with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Cutura followed for CU with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Patnaik before Pons clinched the match for the team with the fourth win over Murali 7-5, 6-1.

Castillo also took her singles matchup of her own to beat Bulldog Ikram Rassif with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Inma Ramon and Pauline Roustan raked in the last two singles win to further Campbell's winning streak. Ramon defeated Zainab Bendahhou 7-6 (1), 6-3 in singles action. Roustan ended the match to finish off singles action with a 6-3, 6-4 win to beat SC State's Izabel Nikolaeva.

Next Match: The Camels resume their conference season back in Buies Creek, N.C. this Saturday, March 9, to host Winthrop at the Nisbet Tennis Center. The first serve is set for 10:00 a.m.
