Lacrosse hosts Gardner-Webb in home finale

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell will host Big South foe Gardner-Webb in its 2019 regular season home finale at noon Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Prior to the showdown, Campbell will honor its nine seniors, Ellie Allen, Amanda Chasin, Kylie Haarhoff, Morgan Hollenbeck, Sarah Paul, Annie Pazulski, Melissa Placek, Rose Prizzi and Kaitlyn Steinbauer.

Campbell (4-9, 1-2 Big South) is looking for its second Big South home win in three chances. The Camels are 1-1 in conference games played in Buies Creek this season, topping Presbyterian 24-4 before falling to Winthrop in overtime, 13-12. CU is coming off a 21-7 setback at No. 25 High Point on Wednesday in its Big South road debut.

Pazulski leads the Camels with 39 points, collecting 19 goals and 20 assists, while Placek has punched in a team-best 24 goals and 82 draw controls. Allen has chipped in 18 scores, while freshman Laura Will owns 16 goals. Sam Carey also boasts 14 points to go along with 56 draw controls.

Chasin anchors the CU defense with 24 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers, while Julia Markey owns 22 ground balls and 18 forced miscues. Prizzi has also collected a team-high 27 ground balls with six caused turnovers. Lexie Patton, meanwhile, has snagged 105 saves with 24 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

GWU comes into Saturday's matchup at 5-9 overall and 0-4 in Big South play, including three losses by a single goal. Abby Hanscom leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 48 points on 34 goals and 14 assists, while Jada Preston owns 24 goals and 22 helpers.

Talen Francis has also punched in 26 goals with a team-high 29 ground balls. Monique Martin leads the team with 17 caused turnovers, while Katie Sylvester has made 109 saves.

Campbell is 4-0 all-time against the Runnin' Bulldogs, taking last season's meeting 21-10 on the road in its Big South opener. In the pair's last meeting in Buies Creek, the Camels claimed a 22-6 victory in 2017.

CU will be on the road for the final week of the regular season, traveling to Longwood (April 17) and Radford (April 20) before heading into the Big South Championship (April 26-28).
