BUIES CREEK, N.C. ­- Campbell head coach Ronny Fisher has announced former Fighting Camels' women's basketball graduate assistant coach Kaycie Reffner has been promoted to the role of Director of Basketball Operations.
 
Reffner receives the bump after serving for two years as the squad's graduate assistant coach where she earned her Master's of Business Administration over the span. In her new role, the Altoona, Pa. native will handle all aspects of team travel, social media, and community service projects in addition to administrative office duties.
 
"I am excited to announce Kaycie Reffner as our new Campbell University Director of Women's Basketball Operations," said Campbell head coach Ronny Fisher who is entering his fourth season at the helm of the program. "Kaycie has contributed so much over the past two years as our graduate assistant coach and we are thrilled that she has accepted this new position on our staff. I have enjoyed the privilege of both coaching Kaycie, as well as working with her."
 
During Reffner's second year with the program, Campbell produced one of its most successful seasons in program history in 2018-19, matching a school record with 23 wins. The Camels advanced to the Big South championship game and earned a bid to the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI). In the WBI, Fisher's squad earned the first and second postseason victories in Campbell women's basketball history.

In addition to its second 20-win campaign in three years, CU has finished in the top three in the NCAA in fewest points allowed each of the past three years.
 
"She is simply a terrific person who makes everyone around her better," continued Fisher. "The continuity of our coaching staff has been an important factor in our recent success and keeping Kaycie on board is another big win for our program!"
 
During her first season on staff, Campbell earned a first-round bye in the Big South tournament in route to a 15-15 record. The squad fielded an elite defense, allowing 51.9 points per game, which ranked third in all of NCAA Division I.
 
Reffner, a former player under Fisher at Presbyterian College, appeared in 124 games during her playing career with the Blue Hose. During her final year at PC she finished second in assists (52) and defensive rebounds (70). She also finished third in steals (34) and minutes played (28.5 per game). During her senior year she started 20 games.
