Last time out
Campbell scored 31 unanswered points and went on to defeat Shaw 38-14 in the Camels' home opener at Barker-Lane Stadium. Freshman quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams accounted for 321 yards and three touchdowns in the win, completing 18-of-24 passes for 235 yards and two TDs, while rushing for 86 on nine carries and a score. Caleb Snead had five receptions for 90 yards and a TD, while Devarius Bargnare finished with four catches. Johnathan Hawkins added 37 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns.

Campbell held a 442-330 advantage in total offense, converted 8-of-15 third downs and 2-of-3 on fourth down. Campbell's defense held Shaw to just 3-of-14 third-down conversions and the Camels made only three penalties for 15 yards.

Packing Barker-Lane
In 2018, Campbell broke its overall attendance record (35,405) for the third straight year, while resetting Barker-Lane Stadium's single-game mark with 6,712 for its Homecoming tilt vs. Gardner-Webb. Campbell welcomed 6,047 through the gates for its 2019 home opener, the 12th crowd of 6,000 or more in the facility's history.

Leading the Camels
Through two games, rookie quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams has combined for five touchdowns, including four passing, while completing 25-of-37 pass attempts. Williams, named the Big South's Freshman of the Week on Sept. 9, put up 321 total yards and three TDs in Campbell's week two win over Shaw.

Caleb Snead has tallied eight catches for 144 yards and three touchdowns so far in 2019, while Bryant Barr has rushed for 87 yards. Johnathan Hawkins adds two touchdowns on the ground, tacking on 50 yards.

On the defensive side, Justice Galloway-Velazquez owns a team-high 17 tackles with 1.5 sacks and an interception, while Tywun Rivens has posted 13 stops and two pass breakups. Gerald Wilkes has also notched 11 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss, and Levi Wiggins has registered seven tackles with a fumble recovery.

Starting off the right way
Campbell opened its 2019 home slate with a 38-14 win over Division II Shaw, winning its fifth straight home opener. Under head coach Mike Minter, the Camels are now 6-1 in home openers.

Coming to an end zone near you
With a touchdown grab against the Bears, redshirt sophomore Caleb Snead now has at least one TD catch in 10 of his 13 career games, and 12 total touchdowns over that span. Snead posted a game-high five catches for 90 yards to go along with his touchdown in the win over Shaw. He needs just 46 yards to reach 1,000 for his career. Snead would be the sixth Camel to hit the mark.

Winning the state
Over its last 11 games against competition from North Carolina, Campbell owns 10 wins, including the victory over Shaw. The Camels won nine in a row over Tar Heel State foes from 2014 (Davidson) until 2018, falling to Gardner-Webb to end the streak.

Scouting Davidson
The Wildcats are off to a 3-0 start following last week's 41-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan. Davidson has piled up a combined 86-7 advantage on the scoreboard over the last two weeks, also topping Virginia Lynchburg.

Davidson, averaging 302 rushing yards per game, are led by James Story and Eli Turner, who have combined for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Harrison Hill, meanwhile, has posted 18 tackles, including 4.5 stops for loss.

CU has taken five in a row over its former Pioneer Football League foe, with their last meeting coming in 2017 as conference foes in Davidson, N.C., a 42-29 win for the Camels. CU head coach Mike Minter is 5-0 against the Wildcats.

Next up
Campbell will head back on the road on Sept. 28, making its first trip to Mercer. The Camels and Bears will be meeting for the second time, meeting once as PFL foes in 2013. The Camels return to Buies Creek on Oct. 5, starting Big South play with Presbyterian.
