ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Nadiria Evans scored 20 points, Senora Dengokl 14 and Amaryah Corpening 12 as UNC Asheville held off Campbell 60-52 Saturday afternoon inside Kimmel Arena.
Taya Bolden grabbed an offensive board and finished inside to help Campbell cut the lead to seven, 59-52, in the final minute but could not get any closer.
The Camels inched the Bulldog lead to seven earlier at the 3:04 mark when
Luana Serranho blew past her defender for a lay in.
The Bulldogs (8-4, 2-1 Big South) made 22 of its 48 shots to sport a 45 percent clip from the field and were able to hold the Camels (7-5, 2-1 Big South) to just 35 perfecent shooting including just 13 percent from behind the arc.
Luana Serranho scored 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting and
Hayley Barber added 11 on a 4-of-13 performance from the field for the Camels who led for just 3:41 of the game.
Campbell edged out UNCA 30-20 in points in the paint as well as 19-13 in second chance points however the Bulldogs hauled in 37 rebounds to Campbell's 33.
Asheville jumped out to an early lead in the second period and to a 31-30 advantage into the break after holding the Camels to just nine points in the second quarter.
Campbell returns to action on Monday at Longwood for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
