BUIES CREEK, N.C. – For the second time this season, Campbell's
Josh Heil has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Heil, already named the SoCon's Wrestler of the Month for December, made a run to the Midlands finals at 141 pounds, becoming Campbell's second ever finalist at the prestigious event. Heil ran his winning streak to 16 matches before dropping a 5-3 decision to No. 7 Max Murin of Iowa.
The Brunswick, Ohio native made it to the finals with a 4-2 win over No. 8 Tristan Moran of Wisconsin, his fifth win of the season against a ranked opponent. Heil is now a staggering 20-2 on the season, ranking as high as No. 8 at 141 pounds (FloWrestling).
This is the fifth time a Camel has been named SoCon Wrestler of the Week this season. Heil has been honored twice, joined by
Korbin Meink,
Andrew Morgan and
Quentin Perez.
This weekend, Campbell returns to its dual slate, heading to the Arizona State Duals Saturday at Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, taking on the host Sun Devils, ranked No. 7 in the NWCA poll, as well as No. 11 Iowa State and Harvard.
