Price's career day leads Campbell to 80-37 win over Winthrop

Faith Price scores career-high 23 points on 6-of-8 shooting from behind the arc, Campbell bench combines for 50 points

BUIES CREEK - Faith Price led a hot-shooting Campbell offense with a career-high 23 points off the bench as the Fighting Camels defeated Winthrop, 80-37, Thursday afternoon in Gore Arena.

Campbell (5-2, 2-0) moves to 2-0 in Big South play for the second-straight season after earning the series sweep over Winthrop (2-5, 1-3).

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Campbell caught fire after trailing 4-3 to open the opening quarter, going on a 20-0 run over the final 7:15 of the period behind 6-for-6 shooting from behind the arc
  • Faith Price led the scoring efforts off the bench scoring 12 of her career-high 23 points in the first half to give Campbell a 39-17 lead at the break
  • Price continued her career day adding eight points in the third quarter while Luana Serranho also reached double-figures scoring five of her 10 points in the quarter
  • The Fighting Camels defense held Winthrop to eight points in the final quarter and the Campbell bench combined to score 16 of the final 20 points in the game en route to an 80-37 victory
  • Winthrop was led by seven points off the bench by Sierra Hunter while Maleeah Langstaff added four points, six boards and four steals for the Eagles
  • Price led all scorers with a career-best 23 points off the bench, making 6-of-8 shots from deep, in 25 minutes of play as the Campbell bench totaled a season-high 50 points
  • Christabel Ezumah scored a season-high eight points, had eight rebounds and blocked six shots, including five swats in the fourth quarter
  • Sarah Hammack Fitzgerald also scored a season-best eight points in 10 minutes off the bench

  • Campbell's 13 shots from behind the arc marked a season-high for the team as six different players scored from deep
  • Campbell has made 10 or more 3-pointers in three straight games for the first time under Head Coach Ronny Fisher
  • The Fighting Camels shot 60.4% (29 of 48) from the field and 56.5% (13 of 23) from deep while holding Winthrop to 24.2% shooting from the floor
