Camels complete fourth quarter comeback at High Point, win 10th straight

Campbell has won 10 straight after a dramatic finish

BUIES CREEK, NC - "As my dad used to say after games like that, 'That one was never in doubt,' " said Ronny Fisher to a group of congratulatory Campbell fans awaiting him after his post-game interview.

Svenia Nürenberg knocked down a mid-range jumper with 0.4 seconds left on the clock to cap an 18-2 fourth-quarter run and to lift Campbell past High Point, 68-66, Tuesday night at the Millis Center.

With the game tied with just 2.4 seconds left on the clock, Hayley Barber inbounded the ball to Nürenberg who knocked down the go-ahead jumper to cap a career-high 10 point night.

Campbell trailed by as many as 15 with 9:12 left in the fourth quarter. Camryn Brown, who finished with a game-high 24 points, knocked down a jumper with 7:48 to play before Campbell went on a 14-0 run to tie the game, 64,64, with 3:54 to play.

After both teams went scoreless for 2:05, Courtney Meadows stole the ball and finished on the other end for an easy two and to push the Panthers ahead 66-64 with 59 seconds to play.

Luana Serranho, who finished with 14 points on the night, answered on the other end with a lay-in of her own before Campbell came up with a defensive stop to set up the Nürenberg game-winner.

Camryn Brown scored 24 points while Jensen Edwards and Skylar Curran both added 11 for High Point (11-12, 9-5 Big South) who lost their first conference home game of the season.

Taya Bolden led five double-digit scorers with 15 points for the Camels (17-5, 12-1 Big South) who won their 10th straight game. The streak inches closer to the program record of 12 which was set in both 2001 and 1988.

The 12 wins in Big South play sits two games shy of the most wins in Big South play in program history. Campbell set the record for most conference wins in 2001 win winning 16 games as a member of the Trans American Athletic Conference.

Kianna Speight knocked down a pair of triples to spark the Campbell run in the fourth quarter and finished with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from deep. Hayley Barber rounded out the double-digit scoring slate for the Camels with 10 points.

Campbell shot just 40 percent from the field compared to High Point's 47 percent effort but Campbell's power came from its bench who outscored the Panthers' bench 19-10 and converted five more second chance points.

Campbell returns to action on Saturday at home against Radford. The Camels have not lost at home this season winning all 10 outings inside Gore Arena.
