Radford holds off Camels

Campbell's win streak halted at 10 games

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -  Sydney Nunley scored 13 points and Khiana Johnson added 10 for Radford who held off Campbell 48-42 Saturday afternoon inside Gore Arena.

Shy Tuelle hit a three-pointer – her lone bucket of the day – to give Campbell the lead, 42-41, with 4:24 to play but it served as the Camels' last field goal of the contest as Radford held the Camels to just one point over the remainder of the contest.

Taya Bolden scored 11 points and Hayley Barber added 10 for the Camels (17-6, 11-2 Big South) who shot just 28.8 percent from the floor to mark the second-lowest shooting outing of the season and the lowest mark in Big South play this season.

Radford was able to hit 19-of-46 from the floor to total 41.3 percent against Campbell who has been holding Big South opponents to 38 percent shooting from the floor.

Nunley made her presence felt in the painted area and helped the Highlanders (12-11, 10-4 Big South) outscore the Camels 26-18 in the lane.

After Tuelle hit the go-ahead triple in the final period, neither team scored for the next 2:21 when Nunley knocked down one-of-two free throws to tie the contest, 42-42.

Radford then scored six-straight in part to a part of layups by Johnson and Nunley as a part of a 7-0 run to end the game.

The loss marked the first loss of the season for the Camels at home and halted a 10-game win streak dating back to January 4 when the Camels dropped a 60-52 decision at UNC Asheville.

Campbell still remains atop the Big South standings with a two-game cushion ahead of Radford who has now won four-straight.

Campbell returns to action Tuesday night with a trip to Rock Hill, S.C. to face Winthrop at 7:00 p.m. Campbell topped the Eagles 63-47 in the two squad's first meeting on January 14.
