LYNCHBURG, Va. - Daequon Carr set the fastest 60 meters time in program history and joined three other Camels who posted top-10 marks in Big South history as Campbell track & field wrapped up competition at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invite hosted by Liberty today.
Carr initially broke his previous school-record time in the 60 meters (6.81) by running a 6.78 in the preliminary round. In the 60m finals Carr posted a first-place finishing time of 6.74, a whole 0.07 seconds ahead of Charlotte's Gabriel Nash in second, cementing himself as the fastest man in Campbell history. The senior's time also ranks as the fifth-fastest in Big South history.
Godwin Kimutai set the third-fastest mile time in program history, clocking in at 4:07.70 in his first-place finish today. Kimutai's time ranks tenth fastest in Big South history.
On the women's side, Hailey Huston Myles set the second-best triple jump mark in school history with her 12.44m (40' 9.75") mark in second place. Myles' mark ties her with Radford's Shemelia Brandon and Charleston Southern's Tamisha Foster.
Jenna Dankert cracked into the all-time Big South records in the shot put, measuring for a mark of 14.68m (48' 2.00") distance. Dankert's mark puts her sixth all-time in the Big South standings.
Patience Marshall picked up her third first-place mark of the season in the shot put after throwing for 15.08m (49' 5.75"). Dameon Creary also picked up a first-place mark in the men's long jump, clearing 7.21m / 23' 8.00" today.
