BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Hayley Barber scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half as Campbell won its ninth straight game, --, Saturday afternoon inside Gore Arena.
Leading by just one heading into the final period, Campbell opened the quarter on a 15-4 run over the first 6:16 to push out to a 55-43 lead.
Campbell led by as many 12 with 4:51 in the final period when
Faith Price drove to rack for the finish.
Hayley Barber led the Camels (16-5, 11-1 Big South) with 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting with 12 of her 14 points coming in the final half.
Taya Bolden followed with 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting to pair with five boards.
Nadiria Evans led all scorers with 20 points followed by 13 from Sonora Dongokl with 13 to pace the Bulldogs (12-10, 6-7 Big South).
The Bulldogs drew to within seven twice in the final five minutes of action but could not draw any closer to the Camels who led for 35:59 over the course of the contest. Evans made one-of-two free throws with 1:44 remaining to make it 55-48 but
Hayley Barber later answered with a pair from the line where Barber hit a perfect 6-of-6 on the afternoon.
Campbell dominated the points off turnovers battle by bucketing 18 points on 17 UNCA turnovers compared to the Bulldogs' three points off miscues.
Campbell was able to pound the ball inside and edge Asheville 36-28 in points in the paint while the Camels did not allow a three-point bucket from the Bulldogs who shot just three on the night.
The win marked Campbell's ninth win in a row and its 10th straight win at home where the Camels are undefeated on the year. The nine straight wins marks inches closer to the program record of 12 which was set in both 2001 and 1988. The start at home marks the best since the 1998 season when the Camels started 12-0 at home.
With Barber leading the scoring charge on the afternoon, Campbell has still yet to have the same leading scorer in back-to-back games this season.
