CHARLOTTE - Shanley Koekemoer has been named to the Big South Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Thursday afternoon.
A junior majoring in accounting, Koekemoer holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA and is one of nine selections to the All-Academic team. Charleston-Southern's Caroline Edmondson was named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Koekemoer was named to Big South Indoor All-Academic Team during the indoor season. She also earned All-Big South honors at the Indoor championships with a first-place finish as a part of the distance medley relay team and a second-overall finish in the mile. She was also named Big South Runner of the Week during the indoor season after earning top overall times in the Big South in both the DMR and 3000m at the Camel City Invite this season. Koekemoer also holds All-Big South accolades in the 5000m and 3000m steeplechase at the 2019 outdoor championships.
The Big South Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team consists of one student-athlete from each institution that meets the criteria of having completed at least one academic year at the institution, maintains at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average and is of sophomore standing. The team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year award are selected by the Big South Conference Sports Information Directors. This year's team combined for a 3.88 GPA, and is as follows:
