ATLANTA - Former Campbell standouts Susan Persson and Erin Switalski have been named to the ASUN Conference women's soccer 2000-09 All-Decade team, the conference office announced on Friday afternoon.
To be named to the All-Decade team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team: three first team all-conference selections, four all-conference selections, multiple Player of the Year honors, ASUN Hall of Famer. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team: Player/Freshman/Defensive Player/Goalkeeper of the Year, three all-conference selections, two first team all-conference awards.
Campbell previously played in the ASUN conference for 17 years before rejoining the Big South in the summer of 2011.
Susan Persson - Stockholm, Sweden - 2002-05
A four-year starting midfielder for the Camels, Persson is the only student-athlete to be selected to the ASUN All-Conference team four times. Persson was also selected to the ASUN All-Freshman team in 2002.
Persson also helped lead the Camels to ASUN regular season and tournament titles in 2004, along with a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Persson ranks third all-time in #CUWS history with 23 assists, fifth all-time with 29 goals and fourth all-time with 81 career points. The Stockholm, Sweden product appeared in 77 matches, making 72 starts.
Erin Switalski - Brecksville, Ohio - 2001-04
Named a three-time First Team All-Conference selection at goalkeeper (2001, 03-04), Switalski helped lead the Camels to ASUN regular season and tournament championships and a berth in the NCAA Tournament in 2004.
Switalski was named to the NSCAA Second Team All-Region in 2004, the ASUN All-Freshman team in 2001 and was a three-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Week selection.
Her 329 saves are the most in program history while her 1.11 career goals against average sits as the third-best. Switalski also totaled 25 solo shutouts, the most in program history and the sixth-most in ASUN history.
"Susan and Erin are very deserving of this honor," head coach Samar Azem said.
"Both former student-athletes had incredible careers at Campbell University and played an incredible role in our past success in the A-Sun and future success in The Big South. It is fantastic to see them both recognized by our former conference."
