BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Dravon Mangum scored 16 points – including 4-of-4 free throws in the final 0:16 – to lead Radford to a 67-61 win over Campbell Wednesday at Gore Arena.
Chyree Walker added 11 points and Lewis Djonkam 10 for the Highlanders (10-6, 9-1), who won their sixth-straight game.
One night after scoring a career-high 28 points in a 3OT loss to Radford,
Jordan Whitfield led Campbell (8-9, 4-6) with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Cedric Henderson, Jr. added 12 and
Messiah Thompson 11 for the Camels, who shot 49 percent from the field.
Radford shot 46 percent from the field, made 12 more free throws (15-19) than the Camels attempted (3-3) and finished with a 38-17 edge on the boards.
In a back-and-forth second half, Campbell took its largest lead (48-43) on
Ricky Clemons' corner three with 11:33 to play. However, Radford responded with an 8-0 burst to regain the edge.
Thompson's transition bucket put the Camels back in front 54-52 with 5:25 to play, but Walker scored six points in a decisive 10-2 rally as Radford took a 62-56 advantage with 1:46 remaining.
Whitfield's pull-up three with 16.7 seconds left cut the gap to 63-61, but Campbell drew no closer.
Mangum and Djonkam grabbed nine rebounds apiece to lead Radford, while
Joshua Lusane had seven boards for the Camels.
Campbell made 7-straight shots during a 17-7 flurry and took a 32-30 lead on
Ricky Clemons' layup with 1:43 left in the first half.
Radford led 35-32 at the break after converting 12-of-24 shots and 7-of-9 from the line. The Camels also hit 50 percent from the field in the opening period, including 6-of-17 threes, while dealing 11 assists on 13 made field goals.
Campbell returns to action Sunday at 2:00 p.m. when the Camels host Charleston Southern on ESPN+.
