HIGH POINT, N.C. - Lauren McNamara-Clement's 21 points weren't enough as Campbell dropped consecutive games for the first time this season, falling 73-67 to High Point Tuesday evening at the Millis Center.
Campbell drops to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the Big South following the loss while High Point advances to 7-4 and league-leading 5-1 record in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lauren McNamara-Clement picked up where she left off after scoring a career-high 18 in the previous game, notching seven points in the first quarter
- Campbell led by as many as eight in the first quarter as Faith Price connected on her second 3-pointer of the period
- High Point cut the Campbell lead in the final minute of the first quarter as Jenson Edwards scored five straight for the Panthers, making it a 20-16 CU lead at the end of the period
- Campbell would push its lead to nine after scoring five straight to open the second quarter, but the Panthers would retake the lead halfway through the period as Cydney Johnson hit back-to-back shots from behind the arc to complete a 10-0 run
- The Panthers led 36-32 at halftime as McNamara-Clement (4-of-4) and Price (3-of-3) led Campbell as each scored nine points on perfect shooting from the field in the first half
- CU battled back and forth in a third quarter that saw six lead changes behind eight points from McNamara-Clement
- High Point would pull away in the final minutes of the third with an eight-point lead, its largest of the game, before McNamara-Clement netted a hook shot from the right block at the buzzer to make it 59-53
- The Panthers were charged with four fouls in the first minute and a half of the fourth aiding Campbell as it went on a 10-0 run to retake the lead
- Shy Tuelle hit a jumper with 1:37 remaining to give CU a 67-66 lead until Jordan Edwards converted an and-one basket on the other end
- High Point managed to hold off the Fighting Camels for the final minute, pulling away for a 73-66 victory
- Jordan Edwards led the Panthers with 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting off the bench while Jenson Edwards added 18
