Allen added to Buchanan Award watch list
Campbell defensive end Brevin Allen has been added to the watch list for the 2021 Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award, presented annually to the national defensive player of the year in college football's Division I subdivision.

The Buchanan Award, now in its 27th season, is named for the legendary Hall of Fame defensive lineman. Past recipients include two-time winner Dexter Coakley, Rashean Mathis and Jared Allen.

The senior ranks eighth in the FCS in tackles for loss with 15.5, while standing ninth in the country in sacks with 8.5. Allen leads the Big South in both categories, and will set a Campbell single-season record with his next sack.

Allen, A Greensboro, N.C. native, owns 36 total tackles on the year with two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery, recording a TFL in seven of CU's nine games this season. The October 11 Big South Defensive Player of the Week also owns three multi-sack games.

Snead sets TD record, reaches 2,000 career yards
With two more touchdowns at No. 3 James Madison, Caleb Snead became Campbell's all-time leader in receiving scores, now with 25. Just the fourth Camel in history to score at least 20 career touchdowns, along with De'Shawn Jones' 22 (2013-16), as well as Aaron Blockmon (2015-18) and Daniel Smith (2017-18), who also scored 25 career TDs.

Snead posted a record-setting performance against the nationally-ranked Dukes, collecting 11 catches for 198 yards, both CU single game records, with two touchdowns. Snead also set the CU single season catches record, now with 63, and is now tied for the program's single season receiving TDs mark with 10.

For the season, Snead owns 964 receiving yards, seeking Campbell's second ever 1,000 yard receiving season following Blockmon's 2016 campaign (1,038 yards, 10 touchdowns).
Standing fifth in the FCS in receiving yards and sixth in receiving TDs, the redshirt senior became the second Camel in history to surpass 2,000 career receiving yards (now with 2,328), second only to Blockmon (2,647).

Record watch
In addition to Snead's record setting season and career marks, other Camels are in striking distance to top the CU record books.

Quarterback Wiley Hartley, despite playing only six of Campbell's nine games, has completed 14 touchdown passes, currently ranking fourth all-time, trailing Daniel Smith's 18 in 2017. He has completed 126 passes this season, tied with Daniel Smith's 2018 total for seventh in a category led by Brian Hudson's 183 in 2013. Hartley also ranks sixth in single season passing yards with 1,602, eyeing Hudson's 2013 record of 2,184.

Already tied for Campbell's single-season sacks record with 8.5 (Emmanuel Olenga, 2017), Brevin Allen is also two stops for loss shy of Jeremiah Robinson's 17.5 in 2011. With 16.0 career sacks, Allen is also third all-time in CU history, behind Isaac Scott (2011-14) with 17.5, and Ugonna Awuruonye (2013-15) with 20.5. Allen also ranks third in career tackles for loss with 28.5. Awuruonye stands ahead of Allen with 34.5, and led by Jack Ryan's 36.5 (2015-18).

Take it away
Campbell owns 22 takeaways on the season, all over its last seven games, ranking second in the FCS for the 2021 season.

In the win at North Alabama to open Big South play, CU notched two defensive touchdowns (fumble or interception return) in a game for just the third time in its modern era (since 2008), accomplishing the feat for the first time against a Division I opponent. The Camels also scored two defensive TDs against Apprentice in 2011 (fumble return, interception return) and at Carthage in 2008 (two interception returns). It was the first time a Campbell team had returned two fumbles for touchdowns in a game.

Campbell scored its FCS leading fourth defensive touchdown of the season Kennesaw State. Levi Wiggins picked up a CJ Tillman forced fumble and returned the ball 94 yards for the TD. It marked the longest fumble return in Campbell history.

Campbell owns 14 non-offensive touchdowns since 2017.

Camels among national leaders
Campbell is second in the FCS in turnovers gained (22), defensive touchdowns (4) and fumbles recovered (12), also ranking among the national leaders in several other statistical categories.

The Camels also rank 21st in passes intercepted with 10 and 23rd in passing offense 264.7, while leading the Big South in eight team statistical categories.

In addition to Snead and Allen ranking among the FCS' individual statistical leaders, with Gabe Holmes ranking sixth in fumbles recovered (2), Josh McNeely ranking 11th in kickoff returns (27.5 yards per return), Malik Grate standing 17th in passes defended (1.2 per game) and Wiley Hartley ranking 30th in passing TDs (14).
