BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell closed another historic men's soccer season in 2021 by claiming its second Big South Conference double in the last three years while making its third NCAA College Cup appearance in the last four.
The Camels (15-4-2 overall) finished unbeaten (7-0-1) in the Big South regular season and defeated High Point 3-2 in the league final. CU then fell 2-1 at No. 27 Virginia Tech in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Campbell produced the program's second-most wins in a year (the 2019 squad won 17 games) in the last 28 seasons and finished eighth in the final South Region poll.
SILVERWARE COUNT AT FIVE FOR SENIOR CLASS: Campbell swept the Big South regular season and tournament titles for the second time in three years in 2021 to run its count to five Big South trophies over the last four seasons. George Bediko is the lone Camel was an all-tournament pick in '18, all-conference choice in '20 and '21 and MVP of the '21 Big South tourney.

Kemy Amiche finished 5th in the nation in total assists (11)... Amiche was 2nd in the Big South with 25 points (7G, 11A), while
Daniel Hernandez was fourth (9G, 1A, 19 pts.) and
Jake Morris (5G, 8A, 18 pts.) sixth.
HEAD COACH DUSTIN FONDER (Roanoke, '94) completed his seventh season at Campbell (73-45-12 overall, 37-16-4 Big South) in 2021 and has led the Camels to five league trophies and three NCAA postseason berths in the last four years. His overall head coaching record stands at 151-108-30, including a 78-63-18 mark in eight seasons at High Point. In 2021, Fonder was named Big South Coach of the Year for the 2nd time in 3 seasons and 4th time overall. He guided the 2018 Camels to their 1st conference tournament title and NCAA College Cup berth since 2007. He was named 2019 Big South Coach of the Year after leading CU to its 1st regular season title since 2009. He was also named Big South Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2010 while at HPU.
BIG SOUTH SUCCESS: CU is now 27-1-4 in its last 32 games (regular season and tournament) vs. Big South foes, including a 21-1-2 mark in regular season play over the last three seasons... Campbell has won 5 BSC trophies over the last 4 seasons - 2018 tournament, 2019 regular season and tournament, 2021 regular season and tournament... Campbell posted a 0.49 GAA in its league games this season and outscored its Big South foes 22-4.
AMICHE NAMED FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICA: Kemy Amiche was named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman first team and to the Top Drawer Soccer first team Freshman Best XI squad. Amiche's selection marks the third-straight year that a Camel has earned freshman All-America recognition.
MENSAH EARNS MLS SHOWCASE INVITE: Junior left back
Moses Mensah received an invitation to participate in the MLS College Showcase Dec. 11 in Cary, N.C. A 3-time All-South Region and Big South all-conference selection, Mensah was rated as the 43rd-best player in the country in the post season rankings by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
TRIO NAMED ALL-SOUTH: Three members of Campbell's Big South Conference championship team were named to the All-South region teams by the United Soccer Coaches.
Moses Mensah was named first-team All-South, while
Kemy Amiche and
Tyler Young earned second-team all-region recognition.

HOME, SWEET HOME: The Camels stand 27-2-4 in their last 32 matches at the Eakes Complex, including a 10-1-1 mark in the 2021 season. CU finished 2019 with a 10-0-1 ledger at home, including two wins in the Big South Championship, outscored its opponents 34-3 in Buies Creek and did not trail in 11 matches. Under 7th-year Coach

BIG SOUTH TOURNAMENT HONORS: Big South Championship MVP
George Bediko was joined on the all-tournament team by
Kemy Amiche,
Bissafi Dotte and
Daniel Hernandez. A holding midfielder, Bediko and center back Dotte held CU post a 10-2 goal differential in 2 tournament games, while Dotte scored in the final. Hernandez had a hat trick and assist in a 7-0 win over Winthrop in the semis. Amiche scored and dealt 3 assists vs. Winthrop, then tallied the opening goal vs. High Point in the final.
RODRIGUEZ SOLID IN NETS: Sophomore
Edu Rodriguez led the Big South Conference in goals-against average (0.94) and ranked second in shutouts (6) while playing all but 15 minutes in the Camel goal this season. He finished 11th in the country with 1915 goalkeeper minutes played. He allowed more than one goal only four times in 21 starts.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION IN SEMIFINAL: Daniel Hernandez scored 3 times,
Kemy Amiche added a strike and 3 assists and the Camels exploded for a season-high seven goals Nov. 10 in a 7-0 shutout of fourth-seeded Winthrop in the Big South semifinal round. CU went in front in the 7th minute and led 3-0 on the 20-minute mark in the second-highest scoring output ever in a Big South semi.
Jake Morris added a goal and assist, while
Kyoji Hata scored his first two goals for the Camels, who struck four times in a 6:20 span after 50 minutes. The seven goal scoreline marked the fifth-most in any Big South tournament game. Hernandez' hat trick was the fourth in CU Big South tournament history and first since Rami Kauppi scored four times in the 1992 semifinals vs. UMBC. Amiche's assists trick matched the school record for assists in a league tournament game first set by Pat Gross vs. Winthrop in the 1993 semis.
