RADFORD, VA. - Four scored in double-figures to lead Radford over Campbell in double-overtime, 74-71, Thursday evening inside the Dedmon Center.
Campbell, playing in its first game since Jan. 30, had its five-game win streak snapped with the loss. The Camels sit at 11-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play while Radford improves to 9-10 and 9-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It took a while for Campbell to knock the dust off, trailing by as many as 10 as it entered halftime down 24-15
- The Fighting Camels opened the third quarter on a 10-3 run and remained with striking distance heading to the fourth quarter
- Shy Tuelle poured in 11 of her game-high 23 points in the fourth, tying the game on a fadeaway jumper with less than 16 seconds to force overtime
- Both sides combined for seven lead changes in the first overtime as Luana Serranho's free throw and steal on the next possession sent the game to double overtime
- Tuelle hit a three to put the Camels up 68-65 until Ashley Tudor scored five straight for the Highlanders, giving Radford the lead with less than a minute to go
- Tatyana Carver hit a three with under 10 seconds but the Highlanders sealed its victory, knocking down free throws for the win
NOTABLES
- Tuelle led all scorers with 23 points, matching her career-high and third 20+ point game of the season
- Brittany Staves recorded her first career double-double behind 14 points and a career-best 14 boards
- Lauren McNamara-Clement finished with 11 points while Taya Bolden matched Staves with 14 rebounds of her own
- Campbell crashed the boards on both ends, out-rebounding Radford 55-43 overall and 23-9 on the offensive glass
- The Fighting Camels held a 24-8 advantage in second chance points and edged Radford in scoring in the paint, 44-36
- Tudor led the Highlanders with 15 points while Bryonna McClean finished with a double-double behind 11 points and 13 rebounds
- Makaila Wilson and Destinee Marshall also finished in double-figures, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively
- Tuelle passed Sara Moore (1997-01) on the program's all-time three-pointer list, moving up to 4th all-time with 146 made threes
