Campbell set to face Duke Tuesday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Camels are set for a non-conference matchup with the Duke Blue Devils Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. This will be Campbell's first non-conference game since March 9 against C of C.

The Camels are 16-25 all-time against Duke in the series going back to 1978. Campbell won the inaugural meeting in '78 6-3 in Buies Creek. The teams last met on March 4, 2020 in Durham, where Duke won 5-0. Campbell's last win in the series came on March 20, 2019 when Campbell beat the Blue Devils 12-6 in Durham. Collin Wolf was 2-3 with three RBI in that game to lead the Camels.

LAST TIME OUT
Campbell is coming off a Big South series win taking two of three from Charleston Southern. The Camels dropped Friday night's game 10-6 before sweeping the doubleheader on Saturday. Campbell won the first leg of the doubleheader 12-2 in seven innings and won 7-2 in the rubber match.

Campbell is now 8-0 in doubleheaders at Jim Perry Stadium. Three of the four swept doubleheaders followed a Friday night loss and were needed to win the series.

Wolf had a breakout performance at the plate Saturday, belting his first two home runs of the season, one in each game. Wolf hit .400 with a team-high seven RBIs in the series and posted an OPS of 1.538.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
Duke enters Monday with a 13-14 record and is 6-11 in the ACC. The Blue Devils will be coming off a busy weekend, with a weather-related postponement Friday backing their series with North Carolina up to Saturday-Monday. Duke will be playing its fourth game in as many days Tuesday against Campbell.

Duke's offense is led by outfielder RJ Schreck, who leads the team in average (.320), home runs (5), RBIs (20), and stolen bases (7-7).

The Blue Devils are sixth in the nation in doubles per game at 2.33. Michael Rothenberg leads the team in that category with nine this year.

CAMPBELL NOTES
Campbell is 4-6 in the last 10 games against ACC opponents. All 10 games have been against Duke, North Carolina or NC State.

The Camels big week pushed the team batting average to .297, good for 22nd in the nation. Campbell hit .385 as a team during the last five games.

Home runs seem to come in pairs for the Camels, with four different players now hitting home runs in back-to-back games this season. Neto, Wolf, Christian and Packard have all hit HRs in two straight now. Campbell has 27 home runs this year, eight more than any other Big South team.
