COLUMBIA, S.C. - D.J. McClain broke his own hammer throw school-record and six Camels earned podium status as the Campbell track & field team completed competition at the USC Open, hosted by South Carolina on Saturday.
ON THE TRACK
Dominique Alexander finished the 100m dash in 10.63 taking second overall. Jaden Jenkins also provided a strong performance in his first outdoor meet, behind a 14.72 time in the 110m hurdles.
IN THE FIELD
McClain's heave of 56.06m (183' 11") shattered his own school-record (54.65m) that he previously set at the beginning of the outdoor season this year.
Josh Kudrick once again placed first overall in the javelin behind a 58.14m (190' 9") throw while teammate Timon Edelen (55.87m) took second. Edelen also took fifth in the discus with a 49.05m mark. Jonhoi Clarke had another strong showing on the throws side after a 15.39m (50' 6").
C.J. McBride once again led the way with a first place outing in the high jump, clearing 2.11m (6' 11") marking a personal record and his third straight podium finish in the event this season.
Campbell's Andre Douglas took second in the triple jump after a 15.16m (49' 9") mark, earning his third straight podium mark in the event this year.
Hailey Huston Myles shined again after a third-place finish in the long jump at 5.60m (18' 4.5"). Myles also took sixth overall in the triple jump with a 12.30m (40' 4.25") mark.
Samantha Ennis set an outdoor personal record and finished sixth overall in the shot put with a 14.20m (46' 7.25") throw. Caitlyn Vester also set a personal best in the hammer throw as her 53.52m (175' 7") mark gave her fifth place.
