Clinton, S.C. – Campbell dropped just its second series of the year after splitting the doubleheader with Presbyterian College on Sunday. The Camels took the first game 21-5, but couldn't find that same production in game two and fell 12-6 in the rubber match.

After the split, Campbell sits at 20-13, 15-9 in the Big South and Presbyterian moves to 12-12, 10-8 in the league. Campbell is now 11-3 in doubleheaders this season.

Game 1 Recap
Campbell continued to get after opposing bullpens, this time exploding for 18 runs across the final three innings. Opposing bullpens now have an era of 9.76 against Campbell this year.

Presbyterian's Zacchaeus Rasberry took Ryan Chasse deep on the first pitch in the bottom of the first, and PC added another in the second to go up 2-0. The Camels then scored at least one run in each of the next six innings to tie, take the lead and break the game open.

While the Camel bats were definitely hot, the Blue Hose pitchers issued eight walks, hit six batters and threw eight wild pitches to aid the production on offense.

Campbell hit four home runs on the afternoon to tie its most in a game this season. Matthew Christian hit two solo shots, one in the sixth and another in eighth to give him a team-high nine home runs this season. Collin Wolf hit his second grand slam in as many weeks and the fifth slam of the season for Campbell. Denning also hit a solo shot, his eighth of the season.

Ryan Chasse picked up his fourth win of the year in game one tossing 5.0 innings allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out five.

All nine Camels in the lineup got a hit in the game while five had multiple hits and six had multiple RBIs.

Game 2 Recap
The Camels led through seven innings but couldn't finish the job and allowed seven in the eighth before falling 12-6.

Campbell led 6-2 after five innings thanks in part to a four-run fifth inning. The Camels posted two singles, two doubles and a Neto home run in the inning. Campbell had a chance to extend the lead with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth, but couldn't push any insurance runs across.

The Blue Hose chipped away at the lead with one in the sixth and two in the seventh to get within one. PC then erupted for seven runs in the eighth to take the lead and put the game out of reach at 12-6. They used five hits, two errors, two walks and stole four bases to piece together the big inning. That loss drops Campbell to 17-2 this season when leading games through seven innings.

Kevin Westlake was tagged with the loss allowing seven runs, five earned in just 0.2 IP during that big eighth inning. Campbell used seven different pitchers in the game. PC's Eric Toth earned the win.

Neto finished 3-5 with two RBI and Ty Babin had a multi-hit game as well.

Notables
Zach Neto remained red hot. The redshirt-freshman accumulated five hits on the day and reached safely seven times. He saw his season batting average increase to .415 and his OBP to .496 on the day. He also made another appearance on the mound, throwing 2.2 innings during game two.

Collin Wolf and Matthew Christian hit back-to-back home runs during game one, the first time two Camels have done so since Koby Collins and Grant Harris against Winthrop on May 24, 2019.

Matthew Christian posted his second multi-home run game this season. He is the only Camel to accomplish that so far this year.

Six HBP in the first game is the third time this season that the Camels have been hit by at least six pitches in a game. Campbell entered the day just five HBP off of the national lead and were hit 10 total times on the day. Campbell pitchers hit five batters on the day.

The six HBP combined with eight walks in game one is the most free passes given to the Camels in a game this season, surpassing the 13 total in the 28-run game against Winthrop on April 6.

Campbell tallied 15 hits during the first game of the day with 10 going for extra bases. Ten extra base hits is the most in a game this season and most since recording 12 in a 21-1 win over UNC Asheville on Mar. 23, 2019.

Next Up
With no mid-week game this week, the Camels have a break before hosting UNC Asheville for a three-game series at Jim Perry Stadium next weekend. Asheville is the only other team to have taken a series from Campbell this season. The series will begin Friday at 5 p.m. and finish with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2 o'clock.
