JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Athanas Kioko set a new Big South and school record in the 1500m as the Campbell track & field team wrapped up day one of the UNF Invite in Jacksonville, Fla.
Kioko blazed to a 3:38.52 finish in the 1500m, setting a new Big South and Campbell record, besting former Camel Amon Kemboi's previous record of 3:39.72. Kioko's time currently ranks as the 10th best time in the nation and set a new facility record at North Florida's track at Hodges Stadium.
Travis Koekemoer took first in the 3000m steeplechase finishing in 8:58.90 while Laderique McNeill took third in 9:26.31. Koekemoer's time sits atop the Big South this season while McNeill's time stands as the sixth best so far.
C.J. McBride continued his high jump dominance after clearing 2.05m (6' 8.75"), tying for second place overall in the event. McBride has finished either first or second in the high jump in all four outdoor meets he's participated in this year.
On the women's side, Dorcus Ewoi finished second in the 5000m behind a 16:35.67 time that ranks third in the Big South.
Hailey Huston Myles' high jump mark of 1.60m was a personal best and currently sits tied for the second-best mark in the Big South this year.
Dominique Alexander narrowly bested his previous 200m personal best and Big South leading time of 21.15 in the 200m after finishing a hundredth of a second faster in 21.14.
Ryan Jackson posted the second-fastest women's 200m time in the Big South this season behind a time of 24.35.
Campbell returns for day two of the UNF Invite tomorrow starting at 10:00 AM.
