Miller promoted to associate head coach

BUIES CREEK - After serving five seasons as an assistant coach, Pierre Miller has been promoted to associate head coach, announced today by head coach Ronny Fisher.

Miller, entering his sixth season on staff, will continue to assist with all aspects of the program with an emphasis on perimeter players and guards.

"It is my pleasure to recognize Pierre by naming him associate head coach," Fisher said. "He has done a tremendous job for our program over the past five seasons. The energy and passion Pierre brings daily has certainly helped to elevate our program and he has added so much value to our players and staff. Most importantly, Coach Miller is a man of integrity and a terrific mentor for our student-athletes. We are blessed to have Pierre and his family as part of our Campbell community."

Miller joined Campbell alongside Fisher in 2016-17 and made an immediate impact by helping lead the Camels to three seasons with 20 wins or more and the 2019-20 Big South regular season title. Campbell has made two appearances in both the Big South Tournament finals and the Women's Basketball Invitational tournament with Miller's assistance.

"I am extremely thrilled, humbled, and honored to become the associate head coach for Campbell women's basketball," Miller stated. "Coach Fisher is one of the best coaches and mentors in this profession and I am blessed to be around him, our amazing coaching staff and our players every single day. I look forward to building on our continued success and serving this team the best I can! Go Camels!"

With Miller's guidance, the Camels have become one of the top defensive programs in the nation after holding foes to a Division-I best 49.6 points per game in 2016-17. Campbell is also one of three Division-I programs (UConn, Baylor) to rank in the top-25 nationally in scoring defense in each of the past five seasons.

Additionally, Miller has coached nine all-conference selections, four all-freshman team selections and 2016-17 Big South Defensive Player of the Year, MaKala Rouse.

Miller joined the Camels' staff after spending three seasons as an assistant coach for the Presbyterian men's basketball team. He assisted with all elements of the program including recruiting and scouting while also monitoring student-athlete progress rates. Overall, Miller helped mentor four all-conference selections along with the 2015 Big South Freshman of the Year during his time on the Presbyterian coaching staff.

A 2012 Presbyterian College graduate, Miller was a standout guard for the Blue Hose from 2007-2012. He finished his career with over 900 points and over 300 assists. He owns numerous records in the PC Division-I record book including program-best marks for assists (328) and games played (119) while ranking second in program history with 206 three-pointers.
