BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Head Coach Ali Jaques has announced the addition of
Cory Macchioni to her coaching staff. He will serve as the Director of Operations.
"We are extremely excited to welcome
Cory Macchioni to the Campbell family," Jacques said. "Cory and I have worked closely together for the past two seasons, and I am grateful he decided to make the move!"
Macchioni follows Jaques from Rhode Island, where he spent the previous three seasons as the Chief of Staff. Prior, he served as the Rams' Director of Basketball Operations for four seasons.
"I am excited to join the Campbell family," Macchioni said. "I've had the privilege to work with Ali at Rhode Island the past two years, and I'm excited to join her here in helping bring a CAA Championship to Campbell. Roll Humps!"
"Cory has been a part of multiple championship programs and understand what it takes to win," Jacques said. "He will work tirelessly for our program behind the scenes. Our players and program will benefit greatly from his experience and knowledge. More than anything, Cory is a really good person who will always put the we above the me!"
Macchioni returned to Rhode Island, where he completed his undergraduate work in 2011, as a Video Coordinator before being retained and promoted when Tammi Reiss was announced Head Coach in April 2019.
Previously, Macchioni was an assistant coach for the men's basketball team at Rhode Island College for one season. In his time with the Anchormen, Macchioni assisted with film breakdown and strategizing game plans while also handling scouting reports with the other assistant coaches. He was also involved with recruiting and meeting prospective student-athletes.
Prior to his time at Rhode Island College, Macchioni worked as the Director of Basketball Operations for men's basketball at Canisius. While there, he was responsible for handling the team's day-to-day operations while serving as the director for the Jim Baron Summer Basketball Camps.
In addition to his roles with Canisius and Rhode Island College, he served as Vice President for Basketball Operations for the Providence Sky Chiefs of the American Basketball Association. With the Sky Chiefs, Macchioni helped schedule practices, team travel and team payroll. He helped guide the Sky Chiefs to a divisional and regional championship in the team's first year in the American Basketball Association.
Macchioni spent three years of his undergrad as the head team manager and video assistant for the men's basketball team at Rhode Island. His responsibilities included the coordination of six team managers as well as the organization and execution of daily practices and basketball operations.
A native of Johnston, Rhode Island, Macchioni graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2011 and received his master's from Canisius in 2013.
