BUIES CREEK, N.C. –
Jordan Whitfield scored a season-high 18 points to lead Campbell to a 67-52 win over Charleston Southern Wednesday night at Gore Arena.
Cedric Henderson, Jr. added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, while
Ricky Clemons contributed 13 points and nine boards for the Camels (8-6, 1-12), who shot 56 percent from the floor and never trailed.
Tahlik Chavez led Charleston Southern (3-12, 0-3) with 17 points, including 5-of-10 from three-point range.
Campbell used an 11-2 run midway through the second half, led 35-23 at the break and by as many as 16. Sadarius Bowser scored underneath to cut the Camel lead to 35-28 with 18:56 remaining in the second period, but the Buccaneers never drew closer.
Whitfield, who had 17 points in Monday's 74-72 loss at Winthrop, canned 7-of-10 shots against CSU, including 4-of-5 threes and dealt four assists. Henderson made 7-of-12 from the floor and Clemons 6-of-7 for the Camels, who ended a four-game losing streak.
Charleston Southern lost its sixth game in a row after shooting 44 percent from the floor. The Camels outscored the visitors 30-16 in the paint and finished with a 27-22 edge on the boards.
