BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell closed the game on an 18-1 run and defeated Radford 70-58 Saturday at Gore Arena.
Jordan Whitfield led the Camels with 17 points and in the process passed the 1,000 career-point mark.
Ricky Clemons added 14 points – 12 in the second half – and Campbell (9-6, 2-2 Big South) held Radford without a field goal over the final 4:21 to win its second-straight game.
Radford (5-11, 1-3) made 12 of its first 18 shots in the second half and led 57-52 after Rashun Williams connected from 3-point range with 4:22 to play. However, the Highlanders missed their final seven shots from the floor and dropped their third-straight game.
Josiah Jeffers led Radford with 15 points and Williams added 12 for the Highlanders, who shot 42 percent overall (23-55) and made 5-of-18 threes (.278). The Highlanders finished with a 29-26 edge on the boards and a 13-2 margin in second-chance points.
Campbell shot 55 percent (28-51) on the day, 61.5 percent (16-26) in the second half and made 7-of-20 threes (.350) overall.
Trailing by one (29-28 at the half), Radford wrapped an 11-0 run around intermission and led 34-29 on Dravon Mangum's corner three with 18:24 to play.
At the 14:02 mark of the second half, Whitfield became the 29th player in Campbell history – and 17th in the Division I era (since '77-78) – to reach 1,000 career points on a backdoor reverse layup off

The decisive stretch began with Jesus Carralero's wing three with 3:48 to play, then Whitfield hit a triple in transition with 3:24 remaining to give the Camels the lead for good. Clemons' 3-point play stretched the margin to 61-57 and
Cedric Henderson, Jr. knocked down a three from the right side with 1:36 remaining.
Clemons finished at the rim with 57 seconds left, then Whitfield and
Messiah Thompson made both ends of 1-and-1 changes in the last 31.9 seconds to seal the victory. Radford's only point down the stretch came when Jeffers made the second of two free throws with 1:24 remaining.
Henderson and Thompson finished with nine points each, while Carralero (5 assists) and
Austin McCullough added eight apiece. Clemons made 6-of-7 shots and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds, while Lusane dealt a season-high five assists in 16 minutes off the bench. Whitfield knocked down 3-of-6 triples and now has 1,006 points in 125 career games.
- Campbell has held 14 of its 15 opponents below 70 points and entered the game ranked first in the Big South, 21st in the nation, in scoring defense (60.1).
