HIGH POINT, N.C. - Taya Bolden recorded 20 points and 14 boards to lead Campbell to its seventh-straight victory, 58-50 over High Point Saturday at the Qubein Center.
The Camels moved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in Big South play while High Point fell to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Campbell continues its best start to conference play since the 2010-11 season when it won seven-straight league matchups in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Bolden picked up her sixth-straight double-double and eighth on the season. The redshirt-senior made 8-15 shots from the field while swatting two shots.
Serranho continued her efficiency start to conference play, making 6-of-8 shots from the field for 17 points. She also added five assists, three boards and two steals.
The Panthers were led by 12 points and seven boards from Jenson Edwards while Jaden Wrightsell had eight points and nine boards off the bench.
High Point led by as many as 12 following a 10-0 run through the end of the first quarter and into the second. Campbell made it a one-possession game to end the half, closing out on a 9-2 run including five points scored off of turnovers.
Campbell took its first lead since the opening minutes on a Brittany Staves layup late in the third quarter and never looked back. A pair of free throws from Serranho with 4:12 left in the game gave the Camels their largest lead of 12 on the day.
After allowing the Panthers to make 7-of-12 field goals and 3-of-7 threes in the first quarter Campbell held the reigning conference champions to 27.9 percent shooting from the field (12-43) and 7.1% from behind the arc (1-14) the rest of the way.
Campbell held a 32-26 advantage in points in the paint and eight second-chance points. CU also held an edge on the boards, out-rebounding HPU 37-33.
