BUIES CREEK – Campbell completed the season sweep of Charleston Southern with a four-set win Thursday night in Gore Arena. The win adds to Campbell's record start at 9-0 in league play.
Three Camels notched double-figure kills, and three finished with double-doubles on the night.
Lailah Green led all players with a season-high 18 kills, collecting a double-double with 13 digs.
Claranne Fechter continued her stellar play of late with a season-high 30 digs.
Campbell took the opening set 25-19 thanks to a strong attack that hit .375. Green and
Melody Paige each had five early kills to pace the attack. CSU worked to salt away an early six-point Campbell lead and was able to cut it to just one point, but an ace and two kills from Green squashed the rally attempt.
The second set saw the Bucs take an early lead forcing Campbell to rally back for a 25-20 win.
Gwen Wolkow found her groove in the second set with four kills and a pair of service aces.
Campbell faltered in the third set hitting only .058 and committing 11 attack errors to allow the Bucs to win the set 25-22. CSU freshman Skylar Yates collected six kills in the frame, part of her team-high 18 on the evening to help the visitors take their only set of the night.
The Camels bounced back to win the fourth set 25-19 and close out the match in four sets. Campbell took an early lead and never looked back en route to a six-point win.
Joining Green with 10+ kills were Paige (15) and Wolkow (11).
Chloe Cook also chipped in nine. The setting tandem of
Emily Mitter and
McKenna Sciacca split the assists nearly evenly with 27 and 26, respectively, each logging a double-double as well.
Campbell is back in action tomorrow night to host Gardner-Webb. First serve is set for 6 p.m. and set to be streamed on ESPN+.
