BUIES CREEK, N.C. – For the second time in three weeks, Campbell's
Corey Petersen has been named Big South Special Teams Player of the Week.
Petersen punted a season-high seven times for 285 yards (40.7 yards per punt) at
top-10 ranked Jackson State. The Traralgon, Australia native pinned the Tigers inside the 20 three times, including once on a game-long of 46 yards. Petersen has averaged 40 or more yards per punt in four straight games, and five times this season.
The graduate student was also named Big South specialist of the week on
October 10 following the Camels' homecoming win over Charleston Southern. He was also recently named to the
FCS Punter of the Year Watch List.
On the season, Petersen is averaging 40.9 yards per punt with 10 punts downed inside the 20, plus five fair catches and four 50-plus yard boots.
Through seven games, Camels have earned Big South weekly honors 10 times.
Campbell returns to its Big South schedule this week, heading to North Carolina A&T on October 29. It will be the first meeting between the Camels and the Aggies. The trip will be the second of a three-game road stretch for the Camels, who also head to Bryant on November 5.
