BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell women's basketball head coach Ronny Fisher has announced the signing of Hadleigh Dill, Peris Smith and Jessica Woods to the Camels' class of 2023.
"It is a joy to welcome this outstanding trio of players into our Campbell women's basketball family!", said Fisher. "All three have the ability to come in and make immediate contributions to our program. They are also each part of wonderful families that share common core values that are so important to the culture of our program. They will all look great in orange and black!"
Hadleigh Dill
Asheville, N.C. | 6-0 | Guard | Enka HS
- Wing at Enka HS, playing under head coach Kyle Reagan
- Averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3.5 assists last season as a junior
- 3x All-Conference, All-District
- Named NCHSAA 3A Most Outstanding Player after helping Enka HS to runner-up finish at the state championships her junior season
- Has helped Enka HS to two conference championships
- Also played tennis and participated on track & field team in high school
- Played AAU ball with East Tennessee Thunder under coach Craig Campos
- Selected as Junior Marshall and member of the National Honor Society
- Intends to major in accounting with plans to become an accountant
Coach Fisher on Hadleigh Dill: "Hadleigh is a skilled wing with the size and versatility to cause match-up problems for opponents. She can score in a variety of ways and her solid basketball instincts enable her to bring out the best in her teammates. Hadleigh is driven to succeed and should become a great leader for our program."
Jessica Woods
Columbia, S.C. | Guard | 5-7 | Westwood HS
- Guard out of Westwood HS in Blythewood, S.C., playing under head coach Gregory Bauldrick
- Averaged 19.8 points, 5.9 boards and 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals as a junior last season
- Named Region 4 4A Player of the Year and All-State selection in 2022
- Has scored over 1,000 points
- 3x All-Region selection, named Region 3 4A Newcomer of the Year her freshman season
- Helped lead Westwood HS to three region titles
- Played AAU with Team Curry 17U under coach Ashley Rivens
- Ran track & field at Westwood, finishing 3rd place at state championships with the 4x400 relay team
- Named to Honor Roll every year, ranked ninth in her class
- Undecided on a major, plans to play professionally following graduation
Coach Fisher on Jessica Woods: "Jessica has the tools to become a tremendous player in our system. Her ability to break down the defense off the dribble combine with a deadly pull-up to make her tough for opponents to guard. Also, she has the speed and competitive fire to become a great defensive stopper for our team."
Peris Smith
Augusta, Ga. | Forward | 6-2 | North Augusta HS
- Forward out of North Augusta HS, playing under head coach Al Young
- Averaged 15 points and 11 boards helping North Augusta to two state championships
- All-Region Player of the Year and All-Region selection
- Played AAU with Aja Wilson Elite under coach Jerome Dickerson
- Voted as Homecoming Queen at her high school
- Intends to major in business management with plans to play professionally following graduation
Coach Fisher on Peris Smith: "Peris is a winner who brings a warrior mentality onto the court. A powerful scorer and rebounder, Peris loves contact and knows how to instinctively gain position inside. She has great footwork as well and should become a dominate force on both ends of the court for our program."
Campbell (1-0) opened its seventh season under Coach Fisher with a 83-40 win over NC Wesleyan on Monday, Nov. 7. The Camels head on the road at NC Central this Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
