DURHAM, N.C. - Shy Tuelle and Gianni Boone scored 13 points each and Campbell defeated NC Central, 71-55, Saturday afternoon at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Courtney Dahlquist added 11 points while Brittany Staves scored 10 for the Camels who improve to 2-0 to start a season for the first time since 2014-15.
Campbell jumped out to a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter but a 15-2 put the Eagles ahead 25-21 nearly halfway through the second period. Campbell buckled down and held NCCU scoreless over the final 6:20 to take a 33-25 lead at the half.
The Camels continued their strong play following the break, outscoring NC Central 28-11 in the third quarter and extending its lead to as many as 28.
Tuelle, who tied her career-high with 23 points on Monday's season-opener, went 4-of-7 from three and dished out a career-best eight assists. Staves added seven boards, four assists and three steals while Dahlquist added five boards, two blocks and a steal off the bench.
Audrey Fuller added seven points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
CU scored 31 points on 27 NC Central turnovers marking the most turnovers forced against a Division I opponent since 2019. The Camels also edged the Eagles in points in the paint, 34-30.
NCCU's Jerni Kiaku led all scorers with 16 points while Kimeira Burks had 14.
Campbell returns home Tuesday to host reigning American Athletic Conference champions UCF. Tip-off from Gore Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
