SLU rallies for 70-69 win over Camels

BOONE, N.C. – Boogie Anderson's floater with 0.3 seconds left completed a late rally and lifted Southeastern Louisiana to a 70-69 win over Campbell Saturday at the Holmes Convocation Center.

Freshman Sami Pissis scored all 20 of his points in the second half and Anderson added 17 on 8-of-10 shooting for the Lions (3-2), who trailed by as many as 21 in the second half and by 20 with 4:58 left.

Jesus Carralero scored in transition to give the Camels (2-2) a 61-41 lead with 4:58 to play, but Alec Woodard canned a triple to start a 29-8 game-ending run.  Pissis hit all 12 of his free throw attempts in the last 4:29, while the Camels did not make a shot from the field in the span.

Ricky Clemons led the Camels with 18 points on 5-of-8 from the floor and 7-of-9 from the stripe, while Devon Dunn added 13 points and Jay Pal 12, plus nine rebounds.

Campbell closed the opening period on an 8-2 run and led 30-22 at the break.  The Camels limited SLU to just 25 percent shooting in the first half.

SLU shot 37 percent from the floor overall but hit 54 percent (14-26) in the second half.  The Lions made 18-of-20 from the line in the final 20 minutes, 20-of-23 (.870) overall.

Campbell finished 23-of-54 (.426) from the field, made 8-of-25 (.320) threes and 15-of-22 (682) from the stripe, but committed 19 turnovers, which SLU converted into 23 points.

Saturday's game was the first between the old TAAC rivals since 1997 when the Lions joined the Southland Conference.  Campbell won four of five meetings between the teams from the 1994-95 through the 1996-97 seasons.

The Camels conclude play in the Appalachian State event Sunday with a 12:00 p.m. tip vs. Kennesaw State.
