Camels roll by SC State 81-34

Tuelle scores 18, Ezumah records first career double-double

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Shy Tuelle scored 18, Christabel Ezumah recorded her first career double-double and Campbell defeated South Carolina State 81-34, Saturday afternoon at Gore Arena.

Campbell (3-1) jumped out to a 13-0 lead and held SC State (0-5) to no more than 10 points in each quarter. The Bulldogs used a 8-0 run to make it 16-14 with 7:54 in the second quarter, but the Camels answered with a 20-2 run to make it 36-16 at the half. South Carolina State was unable to cut the lead back to single digits after.

Ezumah finished with 10 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. A junior forward from Sugar Hill, Ga., Ezumah had eight offensive boards and blocked three shots.

Tuelle, who has made three or more three-pointers in every game this season, shot 6-of-7 from behind the arc.

Audrey Fuller added 10 points, four rebounds and three assists while fellow starters Brittany Staves and Gianni Boone added seven points each.

Campbell, which led by as many as 49, shot 47.0% (31-66) from the floor and 42.4% (14-33) from three. CU limited SC State to 26.7% (12-45) from the field and allowed just 3-of-18 shots from three.

The Camels scored 21 points off 15 SC State turnovers, outscored the Bulldogs 34-8 in the paint and held a 24-2 edge in second-chance points.

Nicole Gwynn led SC State with 13 points while Ajia Smith added seven.

The Camels return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at Virginia.
