POWDER SPRINGS, GA. – Eight Campbell wrestlers placed, including three champions on Saturday at the Life University Open, held at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga.
Taking freshman/sophomore division titles were Zak Thompson at 125 pounds and Conor Malsanak at 197, while Luke Davis was the heavyweight bracket in the open division.
Thompson was 5-0 with two pins and two tech falls, including an 18-3 tech in the first place bout over Cumberlands' Adonis Boyd. Maslanek notched three pins, topping St. Andrews' Franklin Rivero in just 1:07 in the finale, capping a 5-0 day. Davis, meanwhile, registered back to back decisions before topping the podium with a forfeit victory.
Taking runner-up finishes in the freshman/sophomore division were Domenic DeFalco at 149 pounds, and Brant Cracraft at 157. Hagen Heistand also took third at 157 and Patrick Adams placed sixth at 174.
Cameron Andrews finished fourth in the open division at 174.
