Campbell heads to Longwood Saturday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell (6-6, 1-0) heads to Longwood (1-11, 0-1) Saturday in its first Big South road test of the season. Tip-off from Willett Hall is set for 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Campbell opened Big South play with a 61-53 win over Presbyterian
  • The Camels outscored the Blue Hose 27-11 in the third quarter as five different players knocked down a three to build a 22 point lead
  • Presbyterian trimmed the lead to as few as four points with a little over two minutes to go, but went 0-4 from the field and committed two turnovers down the stretch to end the game
  • Brittany Staves led the team with 14 points while Svenia Nurenberg added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists

BOONE BOOMIN'

  • Freshman guard Gianni Boone has been a top option for the CU offense during the non-conference slate

HEAD COACH RONNY FISHER

  • A three-time Big South Coach of the Year and the winningest active coach in the conference, Ronny Fisher is in his  seventh season at the helm of Campbell University women's basketball
  • Over the previous six seasons Campbell has won 119 games for an average of nearly 20 wins per season
  • As the current longest-tenured Big South coach in his 15th season, Fisher leads all active coaches in the conference with 222 wins overall including 137 in the Big South
  • Under Fisher, the Camels won the 2019-20 and 2021-22 Big South regular season titles and finished as Big South tournament runner-up in 2019, 2021 and 2022
  • Fisher has also led Campbell to its first-ever WNIT berth in 2021-22 along with two other postseason appearances in the WBI. He helped the Camels claim their first ever postseason win in the 2019 WBI
  • Previously served as head coach at Presbyterian (2008-16)
